Thanksgiving "Grateful Baskets"
I wanted to make something to give to friends and family to express my gratitude for them. I saw this project several months ago, and modified it for my Thanksgiving table. (It was originally an adorable little purse.) I CASED it from this site.
This project uses my favorite tool, the Big Shot. For each basket, you'll need 2 Bigz Top Notes made with card stock, and 2 made with Designer Series Paper (DSP) (I used Autumn Traditions.) Trim the DSP Notes along the dotted lines, and fit them with the card stock Notes, so that the card stock Notes forms a frame around the DSP.
To make the inner box, start with a coordinating piece of card stock, cut to 5 1/2" x 6". Score the 6" side at 1", then flip it around and score the other side at 1". Score the 5 1/2" side at 2 1/2" & 3 1/2".
Before folding the box, snip on each side of the 1" inner score, just up to the fold. (You'll make 4 tiny snips.) This allows the box to fold together. Secure the sides together with Sticky Strip.
Using either Sticky Strip or Snail Adhesive, secure a Top Note on each side of the box, trimming the bottom tip of each Note so they stand up straight. Before you firmly secure the Notes, stand them up to make sure they are straight. You may need to play around with this a little bit.
The Grateful sentiment is from the Falling Leaves stamp set, and is stamped with Basic Black Classic Ink, twice on Really Rust card stock and twice on More Mustard card stock. The sentiments are then punched out using the Modern Label punch. Many of Stampin' Up!'s punches coordinate beautifully with many of their stamps.
The sentiments are then secured to the baskets using a More Mustard brad. Tip: Use the Paper Piercer and the Mat Pack to make a hole in both the tag and the basket, to put the brad through.
The final, and perhaps most important step,is to fill the baskets with chocolate. Because EVERYTHING is better with chocolate!!
Stamps set: Falling Leaves
Paper: More Mustard and Really Rust card stock, Autumn Traditions Designer Series Paper
Ink: Basic Black Classic Ink

No, not me!! My fabulous friends Megan and Hatim are having a baby in April, and I'm so blessed that they've asked me to make their baby announcements. This sketch was a great one to use to create some card ideas for them. Many more of my challenge cards will be baby announcement ideas, so keep checking back to follow my progress, and to see which one they choose!!
I'm a bit late submitting my Mojo Monday (Mojo Wednesday, anyone?!) This week's challenge was based on this sketch:
It was a fun sketch to use. I tried to challenge myself to be a bit more creative, while still staying within the parameters of the sketch. I rotated it and did my card at a 90 degree angle of the sketch. Tip: I used my Big Shot (remember, my favorite tool EVER!!) and the Curly Label Bigz Die (without the moveable window cutout piece) to cut out and score my card base. Easy as pie (and I LOVE pie!!) Note: By having my own workshop that totaled $250, I was able to get this $43 die for only $10.*** (see below)
Since we don't know their baby's gender, I wanted to do something with fun traditional baby colors, using Bold Brights card stock. I cut out the sentiment (from the Cute and Cuddly stamp set) using the Scallop Square punch. Many of Stampin' Up!'s stamps and punches coordinate beautifully.

It was a perfect Fall day today. It doesn't get any better than Fall in Maine. As I took a long walk today, I was inspired by the beautiful colors, and made this set of cards to reflect those gorgeous colors.
I just bought a new light box to take better pictures, please bear with me as I learn how to use it!!
Card sets don't have to be identical. MIxing different patterns from the same Designer Series Paper (I used Autumn Traditions) helps make a coordinated card set, perfect for writing to friends, or giving as gifts.
Are you looking for inspiration and ideas for holiday cards and crafts? Don't foget to join us on Tuesday November 10 for our Holiday Hop. Mark your calendar.

In this week's special Pals Paper Arts challenge it's all about pink, and Breast Cancer Awareness. Please, please, take a moment right now, if you haven't already done it this month, to do your breast self-exam. OK, if you're at work or some other public place, you might want to wait till you get home!! But promise yourself that you will do it before the end of the day. Then mark your calendar this day every month as a reminder.
The card I created today was Quick and Easy, for when you need a quick card, and something that can easily be made in a larger quantity. I'm going to make a bunch of these and send them to my girlfriends.
A 5x5 base of Pink Passion card stock was the perfect start for this card. Tip: Stamping same color-on-color gives a subtle effect--I used Pink Passion Classic Ink to stamp the stars on the Pink Passion card stock. I wanted to do something that was simple, fun and groovy. I want everyone I send this card to, and who sees it here, to be encouraged to take care of themselves. Now, go check those breasts!!
